For the final round of the King of the Roads championship, riders headed to the Far East and the Macau Grand Prix in Southern China. Macau, located 60 kilometres South West of Hong Kong, is a unique venue as it hosts racing on both two and four wheels at the same event. The Macau Grand Prix has been held for the last 71 years, with motorcycles introduced 15 years later. Former winners in the 56 editions include road racing legends: Mick Grant, Robert Dunlop, Philip McCallen, David Jeffries as well as Kevin Schwantz, Steve Hislop and Carl Fogarty.

In 2024, the event has attracted 20 riders from Europe. Favourites for victory include 9 time winner Michael Rutter, 4 time winner Peter Hickman, 2022 winner Erno Kostamo and last years runner up Davey Todd.

In the lead up to the Grand Prix, riders get free practice and qualifying sessions on Thursday and Friday before the race on Saturday. However, unseasonal wet weather forced the cancellation of both sessions on Thursday and Friday.

Practice and qualifying was therefore rescheduled for Saturday, with the race on Sunday. In qualifying on Saturday morning, it was Davey Todd who qualified fastest, just ahead of Erno Kostamo. Peter Hickman completed the front row ahead of Macau master Michael Rutter.

Race day dawned and unfortunately, riders woke to far from ideal conditions. Rain and fog covered Macau, with standing water flooding parts of the Guia Circuit. Officials therefore had no choice but to cancel the Grand Prix, and as per the Macau Grand Prix regulations, a result was called from the last completed session.

This resulted in Davey Todd taking his first Macau Grand Prix win ahead of Erno Kostamo and Peter Hickman.

With the result given, therefore championship points are awarded, and so Davey Todd ends the year as the new King of the Roads champion ahead of Erno Kostamo.
