Davey Todd is the new King of the Roads

Milenco by Padgetts Honda rider Davey Todd has been crowned the 2022 King of the Roads. The King of the Roads series, which scores riders in all its televised Superbike races, was contested across 6 rounds in Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and Macau.

After finishing in second position in the first Superbike race at the North West 200, Todd followed it up with wins in both the Southern 100 Solo Championship race and the Armoy Race of Legends to secure the coveted crown. Ireland’s Michael Sweeney was second thanks to his win at the Cookstown 100 while Northern Ireland’s Glenn Irwin collected two wins at the North West 200 and finished third. Finland’s Erno Kostamo was the fourth different winner as he dominated the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix in November.

It has been a standout year for Todd, who aside from successes in the King of the Roads, also scored a maiden podium at the Isle of Man TT and won the British Superstock 1000 title. Despite missing out on wins at the North West 200, the Yorkshireman did surpass the prior existing outright lap record.

Todd will be knighted with the King of the Roads crown at the Irish Motorcycle Awards this month, joining 2019 champion Derek Sheils with the accolade.
